SAS International was chosen for its technical capabilities and the unrivalled quality of its products. Working in partnership with both the main architect, Kengo Kuma, and fit-out architect, Cre8 Architecture, SAS International delivered visually-striking, sustainable ceiling solutions to reflect the architect’s desire to create a ‘living room for the city.
2,000m2 of SAS International products were specified and installed in V&A Dundee’s main atriums, entrances, café and exhibition space. Not only was SAS600 ceiling raft selected for its aesthetics and accessibility, it was chosen for its ability to complement the shape of the building. With a unique mesh texture, the white SAS600 accentuated the open plan layout of the light foyer as well as other brighter rooms. These large format mesh panels offer great flexibility and versatility when designing complex projects.
The SAS730 H line access panel was another product used in this project. These panels were chosen for their alternative aesthetic finish and ability to allow airflow in areas such as the exhibition space.
One of the reasons why SAS International was selected for this project was because of the system, SAS740. Providing a more premium, sophisticated motif, SAS740 tapered baffle ensures easy maintenance without compromising the product’s geometric design. Working in partnership with the design team, SAS International developed a bespoke extrusion shape for the linear ceilings to meet this requirement.
