University of Technology, Sydney

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is located in the heart of the busy metropolis and enrols over 45,000 students across it's nine faculties and schools. Built as a 5 Star Green Star building, the Faculty of Science and Graduate School of Health building provides a range of spaces for collaborative learning and focused research.

Designed to attract the next generation of world-leading scientists, the aesthetic of this new build is dramatic and contemporary. SAS150 clip-in acoustic ceilings were specified throughout the research labs. With a concealed grid, the architect chose to leverage the flexibility of the system and off-set the tiles to create an eye-catching pattern not usually seen in education spaces. With Class A acoustic absorption, the system actively reduces the noise of machinery and equipment providing a serene environment for study and focus. Essential for rooms with cutting-edge technology requirements, the system provides easy swing down access and bespoke apertures to ensure hardware and connectivity can be maintained.

SAS205 hook-on ceilings were used in the corridors of the University. A popular product for learning spaces of all ages, this corridor system is hard-waring for busy environments and provides Class A acoustic absorption and insulation to avoid noise transfer to connected study spaces. As before, BVN architects made their own mark with this systems by specifying the tiles in a black RAL polyester powder coat finish to create a dramatic and inviting space for students and faculty staff.
