A multi-award winning new build, the Saunder's Centre is situated in the historic heart of Glasgow. Designed by Page & Park Architects, the academy adds a touch of contemporary design to the traditional ‘Glasgow Style’.
The brief specified a new building to meet the requirements of their increasing student population. Surrounded by listed buildings, planning success was dependent on a design sympathetic to the much loved neighbouring architecture. Nearby residents and the Local Authority were involved in every step of the approval process.
The robust SAS600 rafts are ideal for a school environment and achieve the required acoustic absorption for effective learning. The acoustic rafts are easy to install with an understated design in keeping with the aesthetic demands.
As an enclosed module a bespoke solution was created for the corridors to accommodate a central lighting strip. With the ability to turn corners, each raft was designed and manufactured to suit its location in the building. The open soffit design also allows access to services and facilitates thermal mass requirements.
The rafts and modules are available in a range of curved, flat or angled profiles as standard. Bespoke designs can be achieved to create highly aspirational interiors.
