As well as its visual appearance, SAS740 was chosen for its ability to incorporate LED luminaire lighting. Although at the time of the project SAS740i had yet to be launched, SAS International produced a bespoke width profile to integrate with the LED luminaire lights.

Access to the fan-coil units was also required to ensure the heating and cooling systems were managed efficiently. Therefore, bespoke metal ceiling; SAS740 600mm x 600mm access panels were made with a unique hinge/touch-latch mechanism. This was completely crucial to ensuring the safe operation of the ceiling while maintaining health and safety in some of the university’s highly-populated zones.

In this project, SAS740 proved to be a versatile linear ceiling solution, providing vital access for service maintenance without compromising on impressive geometric designs.

Located at No. 26 York Street, Dublin, RCSI’s new campus incorporates state-of-the-art medical equipment, ranging from a ‘dry lab’ containing high-tech simulation devices and a ‘wet lab’ for students to hone their surgical techniques. A remarkable building designed to transform clinical learning experiences, this project required quality ceiling design solutions to give RCSI students the best university environment to flourish in.

A prestigious project, SAS International is pleased to have worked on such a momentous build that will go down in Ireland’s history books. One of Dublin’s largest new builds in this century, RSCI is a testament to Irish education and indeed the clinicians and surgeons of tomorrow.
