Queen Alia Airport, Amman
A range of SAS International products have been installed at the 103,000m² terminal at Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport including the visually striking SAS750 Tubeline system. The new terminal is expected to handle an increased capacity of nearly nine million passengers.
SAS International designed, manufactured and supplied 12,000m² of SAS750, a curved metal linear ceiling system, complete with acoustic grey insulation to blend with the concrete soffit.
SAS also manufactured curved lighting grilles, 4,000m² of bespoke triangular ceiling panels and 12,000m² of its SAS700 linear slat ceiling system. Installed within a triangular geometric grid ceiling system, the linear slats of SAS700 provide a finish of neat architectural lines within the baggage claim area.
Balancing function with aesthetics is one of the biggest demands when considering products for transportation hubs. The choice of product and acoustic controls all have a part to play in providing a distinct finish and comfortable environment. Linear systems such as these enhance the architectural vision, but also address acoustic absorption in areas with high volumes of people in transit.
The airport was also winner of the transport category of the Cityscape Architectural Review Awards.
