SAS helps meet OPW's vision for a low energy sustainable building using SAS600 rafts which allow for sustainable natural mass cooling.
SAS International’s SAS600 acoustic rafts were specified for the Office of Public Works (OPW) in Trim, Ireland. OPW provide government buildings, which have to last for a considerable period of time and are generally subjected to heavy use, with services such as property maintenance and management, architectural and engineering services.
One of the main objectives for OPW was to be a low energy sustainable building and used natural ventilation to achieve this. SAS600 rafts allow for sustainable natural mass cooling by facilitating free air movement to the open soffit. The final testing on the building demonstrated that it’s performance against a comparable office resulted in an energy saving of 50%.
SAS International were specified for their ability to take on the bespoke designs demanded by public buildings, and worked closely with OPW’s in-house architects, to complete the design of the trapezoidal SAS600 rafts to enhance the doughnut shape of the building.
