A redeveloped multi-purpose sports facility located in Meadowbank, Edinburgh, was established to deliver a modern, bright, and accessible space enabling locals to improve their health and wellbeing. The original Meadowbank Sports Centre was built to host the 1970 Commonwealth Games but sadly closed its doors in 2017.
SAS International collaborated with architects Holmes Miller and Graham Construction to create a space where people can prioritise their well-being.
SAS600 is installed throughout several sports and gym halls in the building, this solution is an ideal raft system for new builds with a need for acoustic solutions, it offers a variety if applications from purely aesthetic to high-performance acoustic with service integration. This is a flawless system for people who are playing sports, the acoustic panels will absorb the high noise level, giving the players a serene focus and concentration for better performance.
SAS700 can be found in the main entrance and atrium spaces on every level throughout the sport centre. This rolled steel system is the ideal solution for projects that have rigid budgets to stick to.
The white finish for both systems gives and open and clean aesthetic feeling.
Overall, the Meadowbank Sports Centre redevelopment project was a success, providing a modern and accessible space for sports and fitness activities while also prioritizing the health of the environment. The acoustic solutions installed, including SAS600 and SAS700, helped ensure a high-quality user experience while maintaining the facility's aesthetic and functional integrity.
