Chosen for its understated simplicity, a concealed grid SAS150 metal ceiling was specified in the new Chanel office in Dubai. Chanel Limited FZE is situated amongst many other fashion and design houses in the Dubai Design District (D3) that include Burberry and Christian Dior Couture.
Dramatic 'tuxedo black' RAL 9005 polyester powder coat finish was chosen to complement the classic theme of the fit-out. The 'Chanel chic' motif is further enhanced by the clean and modest look of SAS150 with square tiles and a concealed grid. Providing a backdrop to the other office features, this choice is reminiscent of the timeless black Chanel handbag and iconic ‘little black dress’.
In open corridor and café spaces, recesses and backlighting make the suspended system stand out against the walls, flooring and billboard sized photography. While accentuating the monochrome aesthetic, this system has also been ‘tailored’ to meet the acoustic and service integration needs of the project.
Square pitch perforations and acoustic in-lay provide the right acoustic absorption and insulation suitable for open spaces with hard wood and laminate flooring. Apertures are also included in the design to integrate with M&E services such as lighting, smoke detectors and vents.
SAS International Dubai worked closely with local fit-out contractors Khansaheb to finalise a prompt schedule and shipment of materials. Giving confidence to the client, SAS International supported and advised the fit-out team from the SAS Dubai Office to effectively meet the short installation time.
Architects Bluehaus Group, led by founding partner Ben Corrigan, have selected SAS International for numerous projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and throughout the Gulf. A progressive practice with diverse experience in interior design, Bluehaus are always looking for something new and exciting and the Chanel project was no exception.
