Leading real estate and investment organisation, CBRE, has relocated to the tenth floor of One St. Peter’s Square at the centre of Manchester’s historic business district.
SAS International collaborated with architects TP Bennett to deliver metal ceiling solutions to meet CBRE’s unique demands on this CAT B fit-out. With SAS130 already installed during the initial CAT-A base build, the main challenge was finding a lighting product which could be installed alongside SAS330 panels in the reception area.
SAS330i LED noggin lights were selected to provide a seamless butt-joint solution between panels and gridwork. This effect ensures there are no gaps between light and ceiling.
SAS provided lighting design calculations before the tender stage to ensure the design and product met the lighting performance requirements. Luminaire power consumption and driver inrush current data was shared with electrical contractors to ensure MCB fuse rating was considered. Luminance at 65 ° of < 3000 cd/m² was achieved with a glare control prismatic lens.
The SAS330i noggins lights measured 1100mm in length and 100mm wide and were supported directly by SAS C-profile gridwork. Manufactured from extruded aluminum profiles, each light was polyester powder-coated at SAS’s factory to ensure flawless colour consistency across the space.
The lighting layout was installed on a 2400mm staggered array and achieved the required lux levels of 300lux. The client preferred to add additional pendant task lighting locally for VDU use. Individual fittings had integral DALI drivers as standard.
SAS also supplied modular interconnecting wiring to daisy-chain all 27 lights, powering them from a single mains feed only.
Delivering a complex fit-out on time and to specification, SAS International worked with TP Bennett and BPC Interiors to design and supply a simple, yet striking feature ceiling that has transformed the office space for the client. TP Bennett have won the Best Interior Design Project for this scheme at the Northern Design Awards 2018 and the project has been shortlisted for the Small Commercial Interiors Project of the Year at the Mixology Awards 2018.
