Striking SAS ceilings complete Barclays Bank offices in Dublin
The Irish corporate office of Barclays, one of the most widely known multinational investment banks, was recently completed to feature a combination of metal ceilings by SAS International.
SAS was selected for its a proven ability to provide comprehensive design support and deliver ambitious installations within a tight timeframe.
Architects RKD specified SAS130, a modular metal ceiling with customisable options; SAS740, a high-end linear ceiling with notable acoustic absorption; and SAS700, a further linear ceiling with profiles of varying widths and depths to achieve a striking lobby feature at the entrance.
“SAS130 is an ideal system for open plan offices or areas with wide expanses of ceiling,” explained Cathal McGuinness, Director at SAS International. “We used it here as it lent itself ideally to meeting the specification for a floating edge detail. It was finished in slate grey, RAL7015, and to a lesser extent a marine blue, RAL 5025, to create depth and contrast after lighting was installed.”
In the meeting rooms, excess sound absorption was essential; particular attention was paid towards creating an environment that would be somewhat soothing. The acoustic technology of SAS740 lent itself perfectly to achieving this.
Occupying the first, second and part of the third floor of the brand-new gleaming glass-fronted building, the project has achieved an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.
