Architectus + SAS International: Crafting Ashurst’s Sydney Workplace
Spanning eight interconnected floors and approximately 10,000 m², Ashurst’s new Sydney workplace at 39 Martin Place is a creative reinterpretation of a modern legal office. Designed by Architectus, the building was built for flexibility, collaboration and with a focus on sustainability.
In this dynamic new setting, SAS International’s Australia team supplied two key ceilings: the SAS330 Suspended Ceiling and the SAS750 Tubeline Ceiling System. SAS330 provided the design versatility with lay-in tiles in white RAL9003 that allowed for the seamless integration of lighting and services.
Complementing this system, SAS750 Tubeline brought its sleek, linear profile to create the refined overhead expressions and interest across the collaborative spaces and circulation zones. Its clean lines and flexibility aligned seamlessly with the building’s agile aesthetic.
Architectus designed the office around agile, activity-based environments and included reconfigurable work areas, collaborative floors, client-focused zones and hospitality-style amenities such as an elevated café and terrace overlooking Martin Place. The visual consistency and service adaptability of the SAS systems meant they could support this innovative layout while ensuring high acoustic performance, ease of maintenance and aesthetic harmony for staff and visitors.
By integrating these SAS ceiling solutions, the project achieved several strategic outcomes:
The result is a workplace that embodies Ashurst’s ethos of high performance and future-ready flexibility whilst being powered by technical excellence.
