Metal is infinitely recyclable and has proven to be strong and durable for many decades or even centuries. Metal is architecturally flexible, does not off-gas or disintegrate. Because of these decisive advantages, combined with recent developments in steel production using renewable energy-powered electric arc furnaces, SAS remains committed to metal as the right material for its ceilings and architectural metalwork. Products from the SAS Horizon line will lower the embodied carbon of customer projects by as much as 60% compared to regular steel. It means they get all the advantages of steel, but with the same embodied carbon as mineral fibre, wood wool and felt. SAS Horizon products mean:

The SAS sustainability commitment – Cradle to Cradle Certified
The SAS Horizon programme is part of our broader sustainability efforts to lower our operational emissions as well as the embodied carbon of our products. Day by day, we are working tirelessly to reduce our impact on the environment. We reduce our carbon emissions as well as our use of water and precious resources through improved product design and machinery, on-site energy generation and low impact packaging materials. We use Cradle to Cradle Certified as an independent third-party framework to address water, soil, air, circularity, material health and human rights. Our efforts have resulted in Cradle to Cradle certified Bronze Version 4 accreditation. The SAS Horizon product programme is an important part of our journey to go from there to Cradle to Cradle Silver and beyond, as we move towards our 2040 net zero carbon goals, milestone by milestone.
