A workplace worth coming together for
At 20 Water Street, JLL set out to give people a compelling reason to come into the office: one another. Responding to hybrid and remote working, the workspace brings open areas, shared desks and collaborative spaces together to support the human contact and spontaneous exchanges that cannot be replicated through virtual meetings.
Sustainability was equally central to the project. A green lease between JLL and Canary Wharf Group included commitments to renewable energy procurement, while construction generated zero waste to landfill. Winner of the edie award 2023 ‘Circular Economy Innovation of the Year’, the office combines its environmental ambitions with an interior designed around shared experience.
Curves, angles and spaces to collaborate
Building on an established relationship with TP Bennett, SAS International supplied ceiling solutions that bring acoustic control and a distinct architectural character to different parts of the workplace. SAS500 baffles, SAS330 ceilings and SAS810 Tricell each respond to the activities taking place beneath them.
Across reception, conference and workspace areas, SAS500 acoustic baffles complement the open-soffit ceilings. Above reception, varying lengths form a semi-circular arrangement, drawing the eye towards the welcome point and providing a subtle wayfinding cue. Beside the canteen, the same system takes on a different rhythm: a herringbone layout introduces strong angular lines above the breakout areas while supporting acoustic performance.
SAS330 ceilings serve meeting rooms and breakout desk areas, balancing acoustic performance with integrated detailing. In the meeting rooms, bespoke suspended lighting frames are incorporated into the ceiling arrangement, bringing lighting and ceiling design together as a coordinated feature.
