Inovo is the Industry Engagement Building at the heart of Glasgow’s International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone. The new Scottish Enterprise development is the sister of the Tic building, currently under construction next door. Designed to encourage partnerships between companies within the industry, Inovo will play a key part in Glasgow’s role of becoming a centre of excellence for design and innovation in the renewables sector.

BDP architects aimed high with this project; metal ceilings, natural stone and hardwood all contribute to the high quality finish throughout the building. Inovo is the first office building in Glasgow to obtain an ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificate rating for its low carbon emissions. Other achievements include a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and a BCO Commercial office award.

SAS International supplied 2,700m² of ceiling SAS330, installed throughout the main office floorplates on a 300mm wide C-Profile. SAS were able to provide high quality, durable tiles at the right price for the client.

Excellent use has been made of the site constraints. The unusual shape of the building necessitated a change in the direction of the tiles. The overall effect is striking and gives a dynamism to the linear ceiling system.

The Inovo building offers an unprecedented opportunity for R&D companies to become part of the fast-growing renewable energy hub in the centre of Glasgow.
