Made for Generations: A Commitment to the Future

What does “Made for Generations” mean?

“Made for Generations” represents the combination of our heritage and future.

Building on Our Legacy

SAS was founded in 1968. Our founder, Eddie McElhinney, initially ran the business from his front room. Armed with just a telephone, a typewriter and a clear vision, he set out to change the face of performance ceiling specification from mineral to metal.

Over the last six decades we have opened operations across four continents, and we’ve partnered with many of the world’s leading architects. Our ceilings bring character to the headquarters of many iconic brands and have helped define highly demanding transport hubs and cutting-edge commercial spaces. Investing in Tomorrow

At SAS we don’t just lean on our heritage, however. We commit to the future. Our tagline encapsulates our commitment to a long-term mindset – because the choices made today will shape the longevity of buildings and infrastructure for generations. Every material specified, every component integrated and every system designed must stand up to long-term scrutiny. Our systems have been designed to excel in functionality, compliance and durability.

  • Purposeful Design: We are purposeful with the materials we choose today, knowing that the way we design our ceilings will contribute to how buildings perform decades from now. Steel and aluminium are among the most recyclable materials in construction and can have a serviceable life of over 50 years.
  • Sustainable Innovation: We are innovating with low carbon metals and a market-leading approach to circularity. For example, our low-embodied carbon SAS Horizon lowers the embodied carbon by as much as 60% compared to regular steel.
  • Circularity of Metal: SAS has developed a take-back and refurbishment programme: SAS Recover.

The SAS team is continually building on our long heritage, and we have made market-leading commitments in sustainable materials and circularity. We’re proud to create products that will last for generations to come.
