XP Frames

XP frames from SAS International are a range of expandable depth door and window frames that can be installed into either plasterboard partitions or brick and block walls between 74mm and 225mm thick.

XP frames are fully depth adjustable and are not reliant on set wall thicknesses or perfectly square openings. Manufactured from aluminium both the door and window frames can provide up to 60 minutes fire resistance, integrity only.

All door and window frames are supplied factory assembled as fully finished door or window sets. Door sets are supplied with the appropriate sized door frame and a factory fitted door leaf, complete with vision panel and any non-protruding iron mongery. Window sets are supplied with the appropriately sized frame and glass.

Reducing on-site installation time the frames can be installed within 20 minutes. Once unpacked the frame separates into an inner and outer frame. Once fitted, architraves, door stops or glazing beads are then effortlessly clipped into place. The door leaf is then lifted back into the frame and the remaining ironmongery, levers, pull handles and door closer are fitted.

To meet the varying wall thicknesses, three different sized frames are available with either rounded or square clip on architraves or stops:

Standard:

• For wall thicknesses between 74mm and 123mm

Intermediate:

• For wall thicknesses between 118mm and 165mm

Jumbo:

• For wall thicknesses between 133mm and 225mm

XP door sets are available with both 44mm and 54mm standard and bespoke door leaf sizes, window frames can be supplied with a range of glass between 6mm and 15mm. Bespoke door and window frames to suit other openings or finished in any RAL colour can be manufactured to order.

Non-standard sized single and double door frames can accept a maximum door leaf size of 2700 x 926mm. Window frames, both single and double glazed, can be manufactured up to a maximum frame size of 3000mm high x 1200mm wide, subject to glass thickness and fire rating.

Colour

XP frames are supplied as standard with a polyester powder coated smooth finish in either:

• RAL 9010 - 20% gloss

• RAL 9006 - 20% gloss

The frames can be supplied in any RAL colour or alternatively in a fine textured finish (SAS FT) or anti-bacterial coating (SAS AB).

window sets

XP door frames are manufactured to fit standard sized door leaves; openings need to be created to allow the door frame to fit. To calculate the door opening required from a standard size door, you need to use the following formula:

Door frame opening = door frame height = 26mm, door width = 40mm

(All opening sizes allow a 2mm tolerance between the inside of the frame and structure, to allow for any deviation within the structure).

XP window frames can be manufactured up to a maximum of 3000 x 1200mm (Note: for full height windows, the opening starts at 51mm from finished floor level). To calculate the overall window frame
opening required, you will need to use the following formula:

Window frame opening = window frame height/width – 82mm

(All opening sizes allow a 2mm tolerance between the inside of the frame and structure to allow for any tolerances within the structure. The clear viewing area is 147mm less than the overall frame size).

Door finish

SAS XP door sets are supplied with SAS International doors, the range includes standard and bespoke integrating doors. The range of door facings includes natural wood veneers, FSC/PEFC approved veneers, CPLs (continuous pressure laminate), paint grade veneers and high pressure laminates.

Our standard range of doors includes eight natural wood veneers and four CPL finishes. Our bespoke doors offer a full range of veneers and are finished with a 3 coat UV stable clear lacquer. For further information on SAS International’s range of doors, please see the SAS door booklet or visit www.sasint.co.uk/doors.

Doors are available as 44mm thick cellular core (non-fire-rated), 44mm thick solid core (non-fire-rated / 30 minutes fire rated) and 54mm thick solid core (60 minutes fire rated). To achieve full fire performance doors and XP frames must be installed together with
the fitted intumescent materials and an approved self closing device.

Standard veneer finishes

Our standard door sizes are available in the following natural wood veneers:

  • Sapele
  • Oak
  • Ash
  • Koto
  • Steamed Beech
  • Maple
  • American Cherry
  • American Black Walnut

As with all natural materials our standard stock veneered doors are not sold as matching sets. Variations in shade and grain are a common feature.

CPL Finishes

CPL (Continuous Pressure Laminate) faced doors provide a durable, to clean product which also has consistent colour and uniformity of grain. They can provide an economical solution for areas with several doors or double door sets. Unaffected by sunlight they do not suffer from shading or fading. CPL doors are available with an Ash, Steamed Beech, Maple or Oak wood grain effect finish.

Bespoke manufacturing services

A wider range of natural wood veneers are available for use through our bespoke door manufacturing service. This service offers much greater flexibility in the selection of veneer species, the veneer cut and the assembly of the facing veneer.

This bespoke service provides doors manufactured in sizes specific to individual requirements, with a further option of closely matching veneers where doors are in pairs or are adjacent to each other in installation. The range of facings is not restricted to veneers but also includes laminate facings and painted finishes, offering an extended range of colours and textures. Paint finishes can be applied, from priming coats through to fully finished RAL colours or British Standard ranges.

Vision Panels

All SAS doors can be supplied with vision panels, both non-fire and fire-rated. A range of eight standard vision panels are available including DDA / Part M compliant styles. Bespoke sizes and styles can be accommodated, please contact a member of our technical department for further details. Vision panel options meet fire performance (30 minute or 60 minute fire resistance), if required. To ensure quality and performance standards, doors with fire resistant vision panels will only be supplied factory pre-glazed.

Ironmongery Sets

A range of standard ironmongery sets can be found on the table overleaf. All XP door sets are supplied with hi-load lift off hinges and fitted with non-protruding ironmongery. Levers and /or handles are
supplied loose for quick fixing on site.

Standard sets include appropriate ironmongery for latched, locked and deadlocked doors, see images opposite. Alternatively ironmongery can be supplied with push plates and pull handles with deadlocks, if
required.

Project specific architectural ironmongery can be specified for inclusion with XP door sets, please contact a member of our technical department for further information.

XP frames can be installed in any combination, the examples below show a number of standard configurations that can be achieved using a combination of XP door and window frames. We recommend that XP frames are installed with a minimum 15mm visual gap between frames; this requires a 100mm structure between openings.
